E.ON Climate & Renewables (EC&R) is expanding its solar operations in the United States and relocating its global solar headquarters to San Francisco, California.
"We are very pleased with how quickly our US based development activities have grown in the recent past and recognize the US as being a very attractive and robust market for EC&R." said Christophe Jurczak, executive vice president, EC&R North America Solar.
To accommodate the staff expansion, EC&R's solar team will relocate its offices to 20 California Street in San Francisco's Financial District. Peter Moritzburke, VP, Solar Development commented, "It didn't take long to outgrow our current office. We've brought together the experienced team needed to develop, build and operate our projects. With that team comes a thorough understanding of the needs of our customers, the technology and the multiple markets we're involved with." The relocation to the new offices is expected to be complete in October.
The company's solar team is currently active in several states across the US. "Having experience with our E.ON utility affiliates and other utilities in several countries gives us unique insights for integrating solar generation into a resource portfolio," said Jurczak. The company's focus will continue to be on the development, construction and operation of solar generation facilities.
"The expansion of our Solar Group's presence broadens EC&R's reach into the US market," said EC&R CEO Mike Winkel. EC&R's Solar Group presence compliments the company's other renewable generation activities in the US. The company has developed, built and operates nearly $5 billion in onshore wind generation assets with more than 2,400 megawatts at 16 generating sites.
