The first Industrial Automation North America (IANA) trade show has completely sold out of exhibitor space.

Organized by Hannover Fairs USA, Inc., a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe AG, one of the world’s top trade fair organizers and exhibition centers, IANA debuts this year in conjunction with the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) at Chicago’s McCormick Place from September 10-15, 2012.


Newmont Mining Corporation, one of the world’s largest producers of gold, has announced its results for the second quarter of 2012.

Attributable net income from continuing operations of $279 million, or $0.56 per share, was down 47 percent from $523 million, or $1.06 per share in the second quarter of 2011. Adjusted net income was $294 million, or $0.59 per share, compared with $445 million, or $0.90 per share, for the prior year quarter.


Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based LB Foster has been awarded a $60 million contract—its largest ever for rail products—for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project.

The contract has been awarded by Kiewit/Kobayashi, a joint venture for the county-wide construction of the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) passenger transit system.

Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Mike Krancer (pictured in the foreground) today opened a valve allowing treated acid mine water from the Antrim treatment plant in Tioga County to power a turbine and begin generating electricity to run the facility.

Terra Nova Minerals Inc. has signed an agreement with Geokinetics (Australia) Pty. Ltd. of Brisbane, for a 127 square kilometre 3D seismic survey.

Geokinetics will undertake the survey on the northern boundary of Petroleum Exploration License (PEL) 112 on the western flank of the Cooper Eromanga Basin in South Australia.

The survey is expected to commence in early August 2012 and will include the shooting and processing of the 3D data acquired. Crews are currently in the field completing line clearing and survey work.


Harvest Gold Corporation has reached terms with San Gold Corp. to sell its CUD 3 claim in the Rice Lake Gold Belt in Manitoba, Canada.

The CUD claim is located 7 km from the gold mining community of Bissett, Manitoba, where San Gold operates two mines and a mill.

San Gold will acquire 100 percent of the CUD 3 claim in return for a payment of $225,000 to Harvest Gold, and will pay a further sum of $225,000 if and when any gold is produced from the CUD 3 claim.


As the first public-private partnership on the island, the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital Redevelopment Project has both challenged traditional concepts of how these schemes are undertaken and faced some unique challenges of its own.
