Just 10 months after beginning commercial production, Oman Aluminium Processing Industries Limited is planning a phase of expansion to nearly treble the plant’s output. Mr PR Ramakrishnan talks to Ben Sansom about the role the company is playing in Oman’s industrial development.

The Jassim Transport & Stevedoring Company (JTC) has evolved far beyond its original remit of inland transportation to offer a diverse range of logistics support services. Jayne Alverca reports.

 

Founded in 1979, JTC began with a small fleet of trucks offering a simple inland transport proposition. Thirty years down the line, the company is firmly positioned as the largest end-to-end logistics and specialist equipment leasing operation in Kuwait.


Netherlands-based Doedijns Group has announced the opening of its new premises in Dubai, UAE.

The company, which specializes in hydraulics, instrumentation, pneumatics and controls, carries out customer-specific system engineering, manufacture, procurement, installation, commissioning and maintenance to clients in the energy, petrochemical, and maritime and dredging sectors.

Ireland-based Kentz Engineering and Construction Group has won a $33.6 million contract from Bariq Mining to carry out works at its Jabal Sayid project.

Kentz’s Saudi operating unit, Saudi Arabian Kentz Co Ltd, has won the procurement, construction and commissioning contract to carry out the structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works for Bariq Mining’s copper processing plant at its new Jabal Sayid copper mine located in western Saudi Arabia.

The mine will produce copper concentrate with gold and silver credits.

Bombardier Inc. has been awarded the contract to design, build, operate and maintain a monorail system for King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The contract, for a Bombardier INNOVIA APM 300 system, is worth $96 million.

Saudi Binladin Group is the contractor responsible for the design and construction of the KAIA Development Project, which will see existing passenger facilities expanded and an additional passenger terminal building constructed to cater to rising passenger numbers.
