Ford ups production


Ford Motor Company, the second-largest US automaker, has announced it is upping production of its cars and trucks due to increased demand during June.  The Dearborn, Michigan-based firm says production will be up by 16 per cent in the third quarter compared with the same period last year. FordÔÇÖs total vehicle output for North America will now be 485,000 in the third quarter ÔÇô a total of 15,000 more cars and 10,000 more trucks than it had previously announced. The increased production will include Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles; with a specific emphasis on Focuses, Mustangs, crossovers and pickup trucks. The news comes as industry analysts suggest that consumer confidence is slowly improving and market uncertainty is starting to decline. The company has predicted that its monthly sales, tracked on an annualized rate, could top a 10 million rate in June. From the start of the year the rate each month has been between 9.5 million to 9.6 million. A sign of its increasing confidence, the company has forecast a US recovery in demand within the industry during the second half of this year. *┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á *┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á┬á *
