BE Global Infrastructure Magazine congratulates Marna Cloete, President and CEO of Ivanhoe Mines, on her election as Vice Chair of the International Copper Association.
Her appointment is a significant recognition of her leadership within the global copper industry and her contribution to one of the world’s most important mining regions. From her role in the development of the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to her support for education and skills development through the Kamoa Centre of Excellence, Cloete brings both operational experience and a broad international perspective to the ICA.
The appointment also comes at an important moment for the wider mining sector. Copper continues to play a central role in global infrastructure, energy transition, electrification, industrial development and the future of sustainable mining. As demand for critical minerals grows, collaboration across the industry will be essential.
“I’ve always believed in the power of collaboration, and that’s what makes this opportunity with ICA so meaningful to me,” said Cloete. “Bringing together leaders from across the global copper industry to share ideas, tackle challenges, and support a more sustainable future is exciting. I’m honored to take on this role and look forward to the work ahead with the ICA community.”
The International Copper Association thanked Cloete and Ivanhoe Mines for their commitment to this important part of ICA’s governance, noting the continued impact of Ivanhoe Mines within its membership.
BE Global Infrastructure Magazine extends its congratulations to Marna Cloete and Ivanhoe Mines on this appointment, and looks forward to seeing the continued contribution of strong industry leadership in advancing copper’s role in a more sustainable future.
