Westinghouse Electric Company wins French nuclear contract

Westinghouse Electric Company has been awarded a contract for the supply of 12 replacement steam generators for EDF's French nuclear fleet.

Westinghouse will provide engineering design, analysis, and fabrication for its technologically advanced steam generator and will deliver the steam generators to EDF in collaboration with several industrial partners, including Valinox Nucleaire in France for the manufacture of steam generator tubes, Mangiarotti S.p.A. in Italy for the steam generator assembly, and other European forging companies.

"The signature of this contract is the fulfillment of the hard work performed over the past few years in developing our activities and products in accordance with EDF's needs and French regulatory requirements,” said Yves Brachet, Westinghouse vice president and managing director, France, Benelux and South Africa.

“By securing EDF's supply resources and giving it access to innovative technologies gained through international experience with other energy providers, this award also affirms that Westinghouse is a major local industrial partner and a key player in the French nuclear industry."

Westinghouse Electric Company, a leading supplier of nuclear plant products and technologies to utilities throughout the world, is a group company of Toshiba Corporation.
