Con Edison Development, a leading developer of renewable energy infrastructure in the US Northeast, has delivered the largest operating solar installation in New England.

The ten-acre solar facility is sited on the New Bedford Business Park, which straddles the towns of Dartmouth and New Bedford in Massachusetts.

With more than 8,000 crystalline silicon panels, the installation delivers enough energy to provide power to 2,000 households. The ground-mounted panels are virtually invisible from outside the park.


Tullow Oil is to strengthen its Dutch portfolio through the acquisition of Nuon Exploration & Production, it has been announced.

Tullow will pay Sweden’s Vattenfall Group €300 million in cash for the Amsterdam-based company.

Tullow said the acquisition will significantly enhance its North Sea business, adding a portfolio of 25 licences that include over 30 producing fields, further development and exploration opportunities, and ownership of crucial infrastructure.

Royal Dutch Shell has decided to go ahead with its Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project in Australia, which will see it build the world's first FLNG facility.

The platform will be moored around 200 kilometres off the Australian coast and will liquefy gas from offshore fields onboard by cooling.

Shell will now commence detailed design and construction of what will be the world's largest floating offshore facility, in a ship yard in South Korea.


San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and subsidiaries of Soitec Solar Development LLC have announced the signing of two additional 25-year contracts for a total of 125 MW of solar energy to be generated in SDG&E’s service territory.

The additional energy will be produced using Soitec's concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) technology, with solar modules manufactured in a new Soitec factory to be built in the San Diego area.

Both of the projects will be located in San Diego County and will be situated near SDG&E electric substations.

Force Fuels, Inc. has completed the refurbishment of 10 existing oil wells that have been shut down for several years on a property in Montgomery County, Kansas.

The company said that with oil production numbers as anticipated, it expects to open a further 10 wells within the next 15 days.


Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc. has been awarded two term drilling contracts with Texas-based oil and gas producer Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.

The contracts are expected to generate a maximum total revenue of approximately $1.8 billion, and represent 10 years of contract drilling backlog.

The deal will utilize two new-build drillships that Diamond Offshore currently has on order with South Korea-based Hyundai Heavy Industries.


Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has signed an agreement for 70 hectares of land at the Port of Sheerness in Kent, UK, on which it hopes to build a facility to manufacture its new purpose-built offshore wind turbine.

Vestas has secured exclusive rights to the land, with the option lasting for approximately one year with the possibility to extend for another 12 months.
